Irons, whose work ranged from Fillmore poster art to Underground comix to tattoo art to children's books, died tragically young when he was hit by a speeding bus on a busy Bangkok street in 1984. Author Patrick Rosenkranz has signed this book, and his inscription alludes to the accident that deprived the Underground of one of its most promising talents: "Look both ways when crossing a street!"
