Crazy mag full of violence, mutilation, death cultists, implied sex crime. Loffredo, an unprolific hack about whom nothing is known, transcends his artistic limitations in "The Immortal Brain," one of the wackist terror-tales of the pre-Code era. In one sublime image of fear (second panel of final page), mystery man Loffredo approaches true pre-Code greatness. A bit of digging, however, shows that the panel is cribbed from the first panel of the fifth page of Graham Ingels' "Baby, It's Cold Outside" (Vault of Horror #17, February-March 1951).
