GERVASE MARKHAM Cheape and Good Husbandry for the well-ordering of All Beasts, and Fowles, and for the Generall Cure of Their Diseases . London: by T[homas] S[nodham] for Roger Jackson, 1614. Small 4°, with initial blank (first gathering nearly detached, some waterstaining, creasing and soiling towards end, verso of final leaf of text very soiled and rubbed rendering some words illegible, lacks final blank). FIRST EDITION. McDonald p. 201; Poynter 22; STC 17336; cf. Schwerdt II, p. 10 (1623 edition). [ Bound after :] HERESBACH, Conrad. The Whole Art and Trade of Husbandry, contained in foure bookes , enlarged by Barnaby Googe. London: by T[homas] S[nodham] for Richard More, 1614. Small 4°, title within ornamental woodcut border, woodcut headpieces and initials, with the final blank (waterstaining to title and early leaves, title also slightly soiled and torn at margin). First published in 1570 as Rei rusticae libri quatuor . STC 13201. 2 works in one volume, contemporary limp vellum (cockled, small hole in spine, lacks ties, front inner hinges split). Provenance : Charlotte Maria Bury (inscription on title to Heresbach, dated 1827) -- Sir Thomas Phillips (1792-1872, William H. Robinson label).
