In Virgilianas et Nas(onis) imitationes Theocriti, Obseruationes H. Stephani. Geneva, H. Estienne, 1579, 16mo, cont. overl. vellum (sl. loosening at front), flat spine titled in ink, 3 parts in 2 vols: [16]-447-[1], 63-[1], 128 pp. (title soiled). Good copy.
Important Estienne ed. of the Greek bucolic poets, including the figure poems (Egg, Wings, Axe etc.). This was the only book issued from Estienne’s press in 1579. Woodcut mark on title. Greek text with facing Latin trsl. Old presentation inscription on lower flyleaf; old ownership entries on title (partly deleted) dated "Anno 1629 24 octobris Bruxellae ...". Ref.
