Presumed contemporary brown calf, stamped in blind and in gilt, red morocco spine label; front hinge starting; old annotation at top of title-page; light creasing to prelims; scattered minor soiling; edges of title-page and prelims slightly affected by damp. Book-plates on front paste-down. Bound with: Tacitus The End of Nero and the Beginning of Galba (London: E. Bollisant for Bonham and John Norton , 1598. Second English language edition. Translated by Henry Sauile. Folio. (vi), 1-227, [1] pp., with colophon. Some creasing at rear; occasional light soiling and spotting; worming to a few blank bottom margins. STC 23644 and 23643; ESTC S 117604 and S117603. These translations were instrumental in giving English readers their first picture of early Imperial Rome.
