Philadelphia: “Printed for the Author, by T. Dobson,” 1793. xii, 234 pp., 8vo (210 x 130 mm). extra-illustrated with an engraved portrait of Washington after Stuart. Later half morocco. Condition : minor printing flaw to the terminal page; minor wear. the fourth philadelphia directory and the first by hardie. Besides the usual alphabetical listing of residents with occupations and addresses, Hardie has added much additional information of interest. In his Preface he writes, “In large and populous cities, there is no publication more generally useful than a Directory.” Evans 25585; Howes H185; Sabin 30323; Spear, p. 274.
