(Design at Home, 2nd June 2018) An extremely rare early 1960s Czechoslovakian Exbor cut and cased vase, design no.U-236, designed by Milos Filip in 1959, the ruby red core cased in colourless glass and flashed in cobalt blue, cut back to reveal the interior casings, the base with circular acid-etched Exbor mark, 29cm high This extremely rare design was initially produced by Milos Filip for his graduation exhibition. This lot is accompanied by photocopies of the original design drawings from an archive in Prague, which are dated 20th October 1959, the year Filip graduated. The U prefix in the design number U-236 indicates its status as a 'Unikat' piece, meaning fewer than ten examples were ever made. Experience with similar Unikat pieces indicates that the number made was fewer - typically only a handful.
