Description: Edgeworth, Maria. Tales and Novels, in nine volumes plus Helen, London: Whittaker et al., 1848 (Helen published as a tenth volume, by Richard Bentley also 1848). Uniformly bound in publisher's gilt green cloth. Presentation inscription to the title page of first volume, 'Frederic Potterton, As a token of friendship & approbation of the manner in which he has educated the Nephews of the author of this work, From their Grandmother and Mother, Frances Edgeworth, February 1856', then additionally signed, 'Rosa F. Edgeworth, Edgeworthstown, Feb. 1856'. Each volume is inscribed 'Frederic Potterton'. Together with various correspondence to the Pottertons, dating from 1850 to 1911, much of it written by Rosa Edgeworth, 1850s, some of it headed 'Edgeworthstown'. The books appear to be complete with frontispieces and tissue-guards, but some pages are loose and they have not been collated; some shelf-lean and discolouration to bindings; some dampstaining to opening pages; the letters have some heavy staining.
