A little darkening to endpapers, spine worn and darkened, tips just showing. Copy no 1 and a special association. Number 1 of 25 copies printed on japanned paper from a total edition of 500. This copy with bookplate of Rowfant Club member and well-known collector of association copies, Paul Lemperley. There is also an autograph letter signed by Charles Orr who wrote the introduction and was a fellow-member of the Rowfant Club. Orr enclosed a trial proof of the title-page of this work ("You will agree with me that its better than the one used and set in Cleveland too") and a copy of the prospectus, both present though folded and toned. Also laid in is a contemporary review and an article on the book collection of the translator, John Bellingham Inglis.
