ANTVERPIAE, EX OFFICINA CHRISTOPHORI PLANTINI, 1567. 8 parts in 5 vol. in-8°; 1 folding table (text n.c., vol. browned, marginal dampstains in some vol., red underlinings and handwritten notes, wormholes in the 1st pp. of part 8). Contemporary emblazoned German binding : blind stamped pigskin, boards with fillets and one roll-stamp (allegorical figures) encircling 2 different panels with coat-of-arms, the upper ones dated 1566 and monogrammed "M K A", blind decorated ribbed spine (stains, wormholes, some corners strongly dulled, unidentified ex-libris on upper flyleaves).
FIRST PLANTINIAN EDITION, reprint of the Lyon edition of 1561, of the 8 first parts (of 12) of the Corpus iuris civilis edited by the French lawyers Louis Roussard et François Douaren. With 1 folding relationship chart. # Voet 1034; # Adams J-516 and 583-585; # Soltész C-1082 (Digesta, parts 4-5); # not in Machiels nor in USTC. Provenance : sold as double by the Göttingen State and University Library (stamps); Émil Mancel (emblazoned ex-libris). ** Binding with two emblazoned panels (9,6 x 5,5 cm) signed with monogram "H H" for Hans Herman according Habler (pp. 181 & 183) figuring the blazons of the Holy Roman Empire (upper board; caption in German and initials "M K A") and of the Electorate of Brandenburg (lower board). -- Première édition plantinienne des 8 (sur 12) premiers vol. du Corpus iuris civilis.
