COMPOSITE ATLAS OF THE HOLY LAND -- Atlas Antiquus Sacer et Profanus, disposuit & emendavit tabulas Joannes Clericus, Amsterdam: apud Johannem Covens & Cornelium Mortier, [c.1725]. 2°. Elaborate hand-coloured figural title, 35 double-page or folding engraved maps of the Holy Land on 36 sheets, fully-coloured by hand, hand-coloured table and folding "Kalendarium Juliano-Romanum Perpetuum" at end. (Title with short tear repaired neatly on verso, a few mainly marginal spots and stains, some very minor marginal worming at foot of first few maps.) Contemporary calf with small gilt armillary sphere stamped on covers, spine with raised bands and red morocco gilt lettering piece (rubbed and scuffed, joints splitting at foot of spine, small piece torn away from head). Provenance : early manuscript list of maps on front free endpaper. The maps in this composite atlas comprise 29 from Coven & Mortier's re-issue of P. Mortier's Atlas Antiquus (see Koeman III, p. 18, map nos. 6-35), and 6 additional maps of the Holy Land by Visscher (2), Homann, de Wit de Fer and Nolin.
