Separated into two parts, old paper repairs to two large tears, other large tears, several folds, foxing. * 10¾x16¼" partially printed and hand-written document on blue paper with an official pink paper embossed seal and two cloth ribbons affixed to the document, from the State of New York, appointing George J. Fisher Surgeon of the 7th Brigade, 2nd Division, signed by former New York Governor Horatio Seymour (1810-1886), dated September 1, 1853. * A 3x5" autographed note, signed by former Mayor and Governor of New York John T[hompson] Hoffman (1828-1888), who's connections to Boss Tweed and the Tweed Ring ruined his political career, dated Albany, March 9, 1871.
