CLEMENS, SAMUEL LANGHORNE. Autograph note signed ("Sam") to his sister-in-law Mollie Clemens (wife of his brother Orion) at the Clemens home in Hartford, Conn., n.p., n.d. [apparently Saybrook, Conn., July 1872]. One page, 8vo, in pencil on lined paper; on the verso is an autograph note signed from Clemens' wife Livy to Mollie in pencil; with an autograph letter signed from Livy to Millie, 4 pages, 8vo, in pencil; with the original envelope. All on domestic and household matters: "Dear Mollie: [Clemens writes] Send to Moore, Weeks & Co. 12 & 14 Market Street & buy a lot of their Swiss condensed milk for babes. [Their daughter Susy had been born in March.] You will have to take a sort of wholesale quantity, for they will not retail. You can keep most of it at the house & send us 3 or 4 cans a week with the clothes." (2)
