Lot of 7, comprised of three sixth plate tintypes and one quarter plate tintype that appear to show the same young soldier at different stages in his military career. The quarter plate tintype provides a full standing view of the young soldier as a private, posed with his rifle musket in hand. The remaining three war-date sixth plate tintypes look to have been taken during the same sitting, with the soldier now wearing 2nd lieutenant shoulder straps as well as an officer's sash. He also poses with his sword in each shot. Accompanied by a post-war CDV of a young mustached man, likely the same subject, in civilian dress, verso credit to Glenwood & McCleary, Manchester, NH: gem-sized tintype of an unidentified mustached man; and a bugle insignia with "8." The consignor relates that this collection was purchased from a home in Center Harbor, NH. Condition: Each tintype uncased. Quarter plate with significant surface damage along top right portion of plate. Sixth plate tintypes with some light creases in each plate, some surface scratching, few scattered nicks.
