Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia Letter signed ("Ekaterina"), to her Privy Councillor, Peter Vasilievich Zapodovsky, 11 November 1790 in Russian, authorising the payment of 25,000 Roubles for the construction of St Isaac's Cathedral in St Petersburg, comprising half the total sum needed for that year, which will be released to him, advising him that he is responsible for directing its appropriate use, "[translation:] ...Of the 50,000 roubles needed this present year for building St. Isaac's Church.
