1917 vintage Winchester Model 1892 Trapper lever action saddle ring carbine, serial number 853087. 16" round barrel chambered in .38 Winchester Centerfire with carbine ladder rear sight, full-length magazine tube, and carbine front. Two-piece plain walnut stock and forearm complete with carbine buttplate. Complete with factory letter stating that serial number was applied July 18, 1918. CONDITION: Excellent overall, with nearly all of the original bluing remaining on the barrel and magazine tube with light freckling and handling marks throughout. Frame has turned a mottled brown-grey patina. Stock and forearm are excellent as heavily cleaned with light scattered handling marks. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand and is tight. Bore is bright with modest abrasion and crisp rifling. A far better than average condition trapper with no need for an ATF exemption letter.
