BRM - Raymond Mays; A quantity of personal correspondence from Raymond Mays , relating in part the trials and tribulations of running the V-16 cars and giving a fascinating insight to the early post-war Grand Prix situation regarding his fledgling team; letters are typescript on BRM, or Mays own personal headed paper, and signed by himself; dating from c1950-1954 and of particular poignance is the announcement of the change of Grand Prix formula which effectively sidelined his 11/2 litre supercharged cars to Formula Libre only, just as they were beginning to show form; and similarly condemned, Alfa Romeo withdrew from Grand Prix events. His correspondent wrote to Autosport?? magazine to campaign on behalf of Mays, who did not wish to complain in person, but his plea fell upon deaf ears; copy of this correspondence is herewith sold in this collation .
