Engraved frontispiece portrait of Empress Catherine in vol.I, mezzotint portrait frontispiece of Robert Walpole by James Watson after Vanloo in vol.II. Engraved titles (vol I with mis-placed mounted vignette), dedication in vol.I and 28 plans and views on 19 leaves of the interior and exterior of Houghton. 119 mezzotint or engraved plates on 108 leaves, one double-page (imprint of one plate shaved, two plates printed on a smaller-sized different paper stock ?as called for, occasional spotting, marginal in the main but occasionally heavy). Contemporary red straight-grained morocco, tooled in gilt and blind, g.e. (some scuffing, particularly to extremities). The mezzotints are particularly fine and the work as a whole is a splendid record of a great picture collection. (2)
