Provenance : H. Alexander Phillips (bookplate); Springfield, Mass, City Library Association (bookplate). An American binding. Ellen Gates Starr (1859-1940) established in the early 1900s a bookbindery at Hull House (Chicago), where she taught bookbinding and established a reputation as a master craftsperson.
