SCHWEITZER, Albert (1875-1965), Physician, Humanitarian . Six Autograph letters signed (one of them initialed) ("Albert Schweitzer"), to an unidentified friend, Strassburg, 1 October - 28 October 1920. Together 10¼ pages, oblong 8vos . In German. PLANNING AN ORGAN-VIOLIN CONCERT TO BE HELD AT THE FRAUMUENSTER IN ZURICH. Among his multiple talents and contributions to civilization, Schweitzer was also an accomplished organist, and he specialized in performing the works of Johann Sabastian Bach. Here Schweitzer prepares for a concert with the violinist Willem de Boer, and he discusses details of the concert, the state of organ music today, and other musical matters. Schweitzer even wrote a book on Bach which he published in 1908, and his thoughts have heavily influenced the way Bach's music is performed today. (6)
