Audrey Hepburn A collection of correspondence from Audrey Hepburn to her father Anthony Hepburn-Ruston and her stepmother Fidelma Hepburn-Ruston, 1964-1990, the letters giving an intimate insight into Hepburn's feelings at some significant moments in her life and an account of some of her film work during this period; the collection comprising eleven autograph letters and five assorted postcards and greeting cards, each signed Audrey or initialled M.P -- an abbreviation of her father's nickname for her Monkey Puzzle [See previous lot], the majority with corresponding envelopes; also a letter from Hepburn's first husband Mel Ferrer -- the correspondence includes: -- an autograph letter, signed, [n.d. but December 1964] referring to a visit to the States for ..3 weeks of M.F.L. [My Fair Lady] presentation. Mel was able to come to New York for the Premiere there (a triumph!!) but..I had to complete the tour alone and came home warm but happy.. also giving news of her son Sean who she describes as splendid and his new puppy, signed All my dearest love and kisses from us all, Audrey 6pp. [ My Fair Lady received seven Academy Awards including Best Picture]; -- a typescript letter, signed, from Mel Ferrer, on La Paisible, Tolochenaz, Vaud headed paper, 31st January, 1966, telling Audrey's father and stepmother ...Audrey lost the little baby we were expecting - approximately in her tenth week. However, she is now beginning to feel much better...her spirits and physical being are much improved... 1p.; -- the remaining correspondence from Audrey Hepburn including: an autograph on both sides of four La Paisible, Tolochenaz, Vaud headed postcards, [n.d. but circa December January, 1966], the first card decorated with a sketch of a Christmas tree decoration in coloured felt pens, the letter however suggesting a bleaker message, telling them ...am better...there is much to go through still, I pray God for strength and gentleness signing off All my love M.P. ; -- an autograph picture postcard from Megève, [n.d. but frankmarked March 9th, 1966], telling them ...Am well again and not so sad anymore. and referring to her forthcoming film ...I start work on the 1st May first in St.Tropez then Paris...a wonderful script....xxxx M.P. [The film to which she refers is Two For The Road , which co-starred Albert Finney and was directed by Stanley Donen - Frederick Raphael received an Academy Award nomination for the script]; -- an autograph letter, signed, on Hotel Lancaster, 7 Rue De Berri, Champs-Elysees, Paris headed paper, August 11th, 1966, telling them Am at the end of my tether as we have worked every day except Sunday since 3rd May!!...but am very happy with the results and have been very happy making it - the people marvellous and a lovely script..[Two For The Road] also refers to her husband Mel Ferrer working on the preparation for Wait Until Dark , signed XXXX M.P. 3pp.; -- an autograph letter, signed, [n.d. but circa late 1966] responding presumably to her father's criticism beginning Darling Dad, I consider myself well spanked...deservedly so for not writing sooner... describing her husband, Ferrer's recent film Cabriola as ..enchanting and all done on a shoe-string...I am so proud of him. , signing off All my love and a big hug, your naughty M.P. , 6pp.; -- an autograph letter, signed, on The Beverly Hills Hotel, Beverly Hills, California headed paper, February 6th, 1967, telling them ...We are both here, Mel producing - I am acting in 'Wait Until Dark' a suspense story difficult but exciting... and describing her sadness at leaving her son behind, 2pp. [Audrey Hepburn received an Academy Award nomination for her role as a blind woman in the 1967 Warner Seven Arts thriller Wait Until Dark , produced by her husband Mel Ferrer]; -- an autograph letter, signed, January, 19th, 1969, telling them ..I was married on Saturday - quietly quickly and somehow beautifully... describing her second husband Dr. Andrea Dotti as ...the most wonderful ki
