Attributed to Platt D. Babbitt (American, 1823-1879) Whole Plate Ambrotype of a Man and Woman Viewing Niagara Falls, Taken from the Prospect Point Pavilion, in a Littlefield, Parsons & Co. Union case, c. 1855-65. Plate size 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 in. Condition: Crackling, flaking, and emulsion losses on the reverse of the glass plate, scattered areas of corrosion on left and bottom edges of brass mat, cover detached from the case with minor damage to hinges and cracks and possibly repaired breaks where hinges attached to cover, old repairs at l.l. edge of cover, scattered minor dings and losses to case and cover.
