The large number of villas and country residences gave this region the soubriquet "Castelli Romani", and the around Frascati were amongst the most beautiful. The importance of this view lies in its detailed record of this villas and gardens, some of which no longer exist, like the villa of the Duke of Sora, the villa Tuscolana, the Vigna of Cardinal Montalto.
