Title in scrolled ribbon, key to the city and the villas and imprint along lower margin. (Neatly strengthened along one fold on verso, very light spotting.) A remarkable view of the villas around Frascati. The fresher climate of the hills to the south of Rome made it a favoured summer retreat for the Roman princely families. The large number of villas and country residences gave this region the soubriquet "Castelli Romani", and the around Frascati were amongst the most beautiful. The importance of this view lies in its detailed record of this villas and gardens, some of which no longer exist, like the villa of the Duke of Sora, the villa Tuscolana, the Vigna of Cardinal Montalto.
