ANGLO-SAXON SAUCER AND DISC BROOCHES Circa 6th-7th century AD. A group of two bronze brooches comprising: a large gilt-bronze saucer brooch with basketwork pattern and inner ring with billetted cross at the centre, about half the flange present, pierced lugs and catchplate on the reverse; a disc brooch with basketwork pattern outer ring and florid cross at the centre, remains of lug and catchplate to the reverse. Saucer brooch: gilt bronze, 35 grams, 80 mm diameter; disc brooch: 14 grams, 37 mm diameter. Fine condition, parts of the rims missing.
