Ancient Byzantine Coins - Justinian II with Tiberius - Gold Christ Solidus 705-711 AD Constantinople mint. Obv: ChS REX REGNANTIUM legend with bust of Christ facing wearing pallium and colobium raising right hand in benediction, holding book of Gospels in left hand. Rev: IUSTINIANVS ET TIBERIUS PP legend with half-length figures of Justinian left and Tiberius right each wearing crown, divitision and chlamys, holding cross potent on two steps between them. 4.36 grams. Almost as struck; with lustre. A superb example. Provenance Property of a deceased Cambridgeshire collector; ex Spink (with ticket).
