(A) REMINGTON REVOLVING RIFLE WITH FACTORY RIMFIRE CONVERSION.

Remington revolving rifle factory converted to .38 Rimfire and made by E. Remington & Sons, Ilion, New York between 1866 and 1879. 24" octagon .38 caliber rifled barrel, dovetail blade front sight, and rear dovetail graduated combination peep hole and notch sight. Barrel is marked "PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858 / E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A. / NEW MODEL". Blued single revolving action factory converted to .38 Rimfire with factory 2-piece cylinder and conversion plate with matching number "5" assembly numbers on each piece. Walnut plain buttstock with iron scroll type trigger guard with matching serial number and crescent steel buttplate. CONDITION: Good overall with metal starting to turn a silvery patina with traces of blue on action and trigger guard. Wood has traces of original varnish with no visible repairs or restoration. Dark bore with visible deep rifling with crisp mechanics with cylinder having a slight indexing problem when held at different positions. A good solid example.
