A LOUIS XIV ORMOLU-MOUNTED BRASS AND TORTOISEHSELL BOULLE MARQUETRY STRIKING BRACKET CLOCK LE SIAMOIS, PARIS, EARLY 18TH CENTURY CASE: inlaid overall in première partie with foliate scrolls and Bérainesque scenes, with herald finial, the front with relief cast figure in a chariot, the contre-partie bracket with bearded masks to the angles and terminating in a foliate mount, the hood with very faint trace of stamp: 'P...', minor losses to marquetry DIAL: foliate cast ormolu with white enamel chapters and blued steel hands MOVEMENT: rectangular plates joined by five vase-shaped pillars, twin barrels, now with anchor escapement, unpierced calibrated countwheel with strike on bell above, signed 'Le Siamois Paris'; later pendulum, key the clock: 40½ in.
