A GROUP OF THREE HOPI COTTONWOOD KACHINA DOLLS the first, representing Navan , or the Velvet Shirt Kachina, carved with straight legs and slightly bent arms cut away from the torso, wearing traditional costume of kilt with elaborate sash, velvet shirt with silk ribbons, and pink case mask with rectangular eyes, inverted V over tube mouth and tab ears, adorned with flowers at top, a fir ruff and boot moccasins, holding a dance rattle; the second, representing Sio Salako , or Zuni Salako Kachina, carved with straight legs, wearing a colorfully embroidered white ceremonial robe over a garment of eagle feathers, blue case mask with pop eyes, tubular snout and striped curving horns, feathers attached at top; the third, representing Kwikwilyaqa , or the Mocking Kachina, carved with straight legs and slightly bent arms cut away from the torso, wearing traditional black dress and turquoise necklace, black case mask with striped tubular eyes and mouth, red tab ears, and three white lines on each cheek, with juniper bark at top, carrying a dance rattle and a walking stick Heights: the first, 19 in.
