With rebrowned twist barrels signed in full on the broad raised rib and with silver fore-sight, engraved case-hardened recessed patent sloping breeches each with two platinum lines and platinum-lined touch-hole, case-hardened grooved tang finely engraved with scrolls, a shield, globe and drum, all on a hatched ground, signed engraved bevelled case-hardened serial numbered locks each with stepped square tail, blued steel-spring, large roller, signed patent steel with pierced lip on the pan-cover, and v-shaped rainproof pan with platinum bar, finely figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip, raised cheek-piece, finely engraved iron mounts including serial numbered trigger-guard retaining some of its original blue, trigger-plate with pineapple finial, silver escutcheon engraved with owner's crest and initials 'WHHC', silver barrel-bolt escutcheons, and brass-mounted ramrod: in associated John Manton mahogany case refitted and partly relined, with some accessories including embossed Hawksley powder-flask, the interior of the lid with maker's trade label for circa 1815 to 1820, the exterior with flush-fitting carrying handle with circular escutcheon, London proof marks 81.2cm barrels
