It is of importance as one of the earliest Western documents showing a revival of interest in botany. The author is generally considered to be Odo de Meung (Odo Magdunensis), this name being added to a Macer manuscript at Dresden; Odo lived during the first half of the 11th century and was from Meung on the Loire... Lacking title and leaf q 1 with one woodcut each, and the final blank, contemporary colour (light shades of green, yellow and red), partly ruled in reddish-brown ink, old ms. foliation and marginalia. Some wear, not much staining, a few small marginal defects. Contemporary deerskin binding worn, with repairs, lacking 8 ties.
