1960 BMW ISETTA 300 COUPE Registration No. KVS 455 Chassis No. A322183 Engine No. A327132 The BMW Isetta was one of a variety of fashionable Bubble Cars that became popular in the late fifties and early sixties, providing cheap, fun motoring, the three-wheeler version being road taxed as a motorcycle. BMW introduced their Isetta 250 in 1955, built under licence from Renzo Rivolta of Iso, Milan, and a year later increased the capacity of the single cylinder four stroke engine to 300cc, providing 13bhp at 5200rpm. In 1957 Isetta GB was formed to build under licence the BMW 300 mini-car, and some 32,000 were built prior to production ending in 1963. The BMW became a trend setter with its novel front opening door and three seater accomodation and providing a creditable performance of 60mph top speed. It has a four-speed synchromesh gearbox, hydraulic drum brakes and independent front suspension. This 1960 model has been in storage for the past three years, prior to which it was in running condition and appears to be in generally good original condition except for an incomplete fold back hood.
