1934 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball (Ruth's Last Season in Pinstripes) The 1934 season marked the end of an era, as the torch of Yankee greatness would be passed to a single hand. It was Babe Ruth’s last season as a New York Yankee, and the legacy he had wrought would live and grow as part of classic American folklore. That year would also be a watershed for Lou Gehrig, who had thrived quietly and comfortably in the Babe’s prodigious shadow for all of his eleven big league seasons. In rising to the occasion of Ruth’s impending farewell, Gehrig enjoyed arguably the finest season of his career in 1934, posting a .363 average, 49 home runs and 165 RBI, winning baseball’s Triple Crown. This Spalding Babe Ruth “Home Run Special” baseball is signed by 22 members of this important Yankees team including Hall of Famers Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri, Gomez, Ruffing and Dickey. Other signatures include Allen, Broaca, Byrd, Chapman, Crosetti, DeShong, Heffner, Hoag, Jorgens, MacFayden, Murphy, Rolfe, Saltzgaver, Selkirk, Van Atta, and Walker. The baseball has some toning and a clear coat of shellac but is still in excellent condition. The signatures average about 7/10, with Ruth and Gehrig each rating 7/10 and 9/10 respectively. An important and attractive ball representing a landmark season in Yankees history. LOA from PSA/DNA and JSA.
