Raleigh’s catalogue for 1932 offered five different models, three side-valve bikes of 298, 496 and 598cc capacity and two overhead bikes of 348 and 496cc. The 298cc MO 32 featured an inclined single cylinder, side-valve engine with enclosed valve gear, three speed Sturmey Archer hand change gears, girder fork and coil spring front suspension with rigid rear. It was an economy, no frills machine designed for the new motorcyclist and priced accordingly at £33, Raleigh’s cheapest model for several years. This machine was first registered in Dumfries in September 1932, remaining in that county until acquisition in 1964 for the Geeson Collection from well-known Scottish collector, the late Bob Grant. The bike was last taxed in 1953 and has remained to original specification in all major respects. It is known that the petrol tank is porous and will need attention. The bike is offered with old style buff log book and a Swansea V5 document.
