Literature: Aurelio Toso, Marc Heiremans, p. 175. Note: Martens was an Italian painter and designer, particularly noted for his glass work. He trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti and his paintings were exhibited at the Venice Biennale (1924-1930). Post-WW2, He became the artistic director of Aureliano Toso producing many noted works using traditional Venetian techniques as well as original t6echniques marked by their obvious difficulty of execution. This series was the precursor of the renowned Oriente series.
