Zoology.- Scharf the Elder (George, 1788-1860) The Giraffes with the Arabs who brought them over to this Country, probably part of the series issued in printed wrappers entitled 'Zoological Gardens. Regent's Park', lithograph with hand-colouring, heightened with touches of gum arabic, on wove paper without watermark, sheet 280 x 380 mm. (11 x 15 in), minor browning and light surface dirt, unframed, published by the artist, 1836; together with a group of seven anthropomorphic prints of chimpanzees and monkeys, and two others, after Waterhouse Hawkins, Decamps, and others, engravings, lithographs, on various papers, largest 405 x 575 mm. (16 x 22 3/4 in), occasional spotting and surface dirt, all unframed, [mainly 19th century], (10).
