York.- Halfpenny (Joseph S., 1748-1811) Bracket on the Side of the Altar in York Minster, ink and watercolour, 240 x 145 mm., titled in ink as above, edge-mounted on early support sheet, [1790s]. ⁂ An original drawing for Halfpenny's Gothic Ornaments in the Cathedral Church of York, 1795-1800. He was clerk of works to the architect John Carr during restoration work, 1794-1797. Provenance: B. Weinreb Architectural Books, 1970s.
