lot of 2 albums, the first a folio Scrap Book compiled by Pvt. Frank Kovacsik's wife, Helen, documents Kovacsik's service as a police officer in Oberlin, OH prior to WWII as well as his service with the 607th Tank Destroyer Batalion during WWII. The scrap book contains 100+ silver gelatin photographs accompanied by handwritten captions, ranging in size from 2 x 2" to 4 x 6", primarily snapshots of Kovacsik in both his police and military uniforms, basic training and camp life in the states, and his time serving in Europe, including photos of monuments and bombed ruins in France, Germany, and Belgium The album also contains sketches by Kovacsik, ticket stubs, keepsakes such as a ribbon he found in France, German money, a paper Nazi pennant, and a Hungarian cigarette, postcards and greeting cards sent to his wife, personal documents, and newspaper clippings regarding the Oberlin Police Department and WWII. The second album, 4to with leatherette binding, with written title 607 Tank Destroyer Batallion and panther insignia on cover, features 150+ silver gelatin photographs, 2 x 2", capturing images of life at Camp Boston, France, snapshots of monuments and ruins in France, Germany and Austria, as well as images of German prisoners and a concentration camp. Condition: Excellent.
