Description: WW2 German Waffen-SS Leibstandarte-SS Adolf Hitler (L.A.H) Photograph Album, fine snapshot photograph album compiled by a member of the elite Waffen-SS unit Leibstandarte-SS. The album starts with a fold out map of France, facing this is a snapshot photograph of the original owner with written dedication which translates to in memory of my service in the Leibstandarte-SS Adolf Hitler. Good selection of photographs taken of troops on motorcycles during the parade in Prague on 4th October 1939, images of high ranking Third Reich officials taking the salute during the parade, SS and Political leaders, Deutschland Eerwache standard etc. Good images of another parade which includes snap shot images of both Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. Album quickly moves into combat photographs, showing good detail of camouflage uniform, battle damage, artillery pieces and vehicles, etc. The album ends with images taken during the invasion of France, with one of the last images showing a SS soldier posing with a French national flag. The images are all housed in a period photograph album. 115 images in total. Albums relating to this elite unit are very rare to find as many were destroyed as members of this unit and family members did not want to be associated due to the war crimes committed by this unit during the war, as a result many images and documents were destroyed so the allies would not find out that they served in the unit.
