Lot of 17 silver gelatin photographs, approx. 6.5 x 9.5 in., relating to the liberation of Paris by the French resistance, August 19-24, 1944. All but 3 include Photo-Presse-Liberation hand stamp on verso or typed, applied paper label. Striking images worthy of note include a scene of jeeps and cannons being hauled in vehicles full of soldiers on the streets of Paris; a crowd of revellers with a sign of Hitler hanging by the neck; and a tearful Nazi prostitute or conspirator with her head shaved and swastika painted on her forehead. Condition: Good condition, some images do have toning.
