.45 caliber, 5" barrel length, S/N 1099-MA. Blue finish with walnut grips. Grips have a World War medallion and plaque that reads "Meuse Argonne." Comes in a case commemorating "The Meuse-Argonne Offensive." This was part of the final Allied offensive in the Argonne region that began near the end of September and culminated in the Armistice with Germany on Nov. 11. The Germans had spent four years fortifying this hilly wooded country, and it took nearly all of the Allied forces nearly six weeks to fight their way through it. Pershing lost over 25,000 killed and nearly 100,000 wounded in what would be the largest single battle undertaken by American troops, with 1.2 million men in the fight. Condition: New in the box.
