Obv: profile bust with CHRIST MADRV CARDIN [ ]HS ET PRIN TRIDEN ET BRIX legend for 'Christoforo Madruzzo, Cardinal, Bishop and Prince of Trento and Brescia'. Rev: the bishop distributing largesse to the poor (perhaps flood victims?) with STATUS MEDIOL RESTITUTORI OPTIMO legend for 'noble saviour of Milan' with SECURITAS PADI below for 'the safety of the Po'. 84.52 grams, 58mm. Near extremely fine; old attempted piercing at top of obverse. Rare. Provenance Property of a Kent, UK collector; with an old manuscript letter, circa 1960, from Glasgow Museums & Art Galleries describing the piece. Literature See Keary, C.
