The Autobiography of a Soldier and Surgeon Author: Wyeth, John Allan Place Published: New York Publisher: Harper & Brothers Publishers Date Published: [1914] Description: xix, [1], 534, [1] pp. Illustrated from photographs. 21.5x13.5 cm (8½x5¼"), original red cloth stamped in gilt and white. First Edition. Inscribed and signed by the author on the front free endpaper, additional inscription from previous owner, lower half of the page has been removed. Autobiography of Confederate soldier and later surgeon John Allan Wyeth. He was 16 when he rode with Nathan Bedford Forest for the Confederacy. He later became a surgeon in NYC and dean of a medical school and president of the AMA. He is the most famous biographer of the Rebel general Nathan Bedford Forest. Condition: Spine sunned, touches of rubbing to cloth; rear hinge cracked; very good. Item#: 342503b Headline: Inscribed and signed by John Allan Wyeth
