[16], 498, 79, [15] p., half-title; a few closed marginal tears, some marginal tears with minor loss, minor marginal worming, occasional minor spotting and staining. Contemporary mottled calf, spine with raised bands in six compartments, later paper label; overall rubbed, joints starting, front and rear free endpapers loose. First edition Wiseman was the first consultant surgeon in London, and the most prominent practitioner during the English Civil War. Recording over 600 case histories, Severall Chirurgicall Treatises is regarded as a landmark text in western medicine.
