Payne, and Cadell and Davies by Richard Taylor 1809. 2 volumes, 4° (285 x 233mm) and folio atlas (460 x 300mm). Double-page map of Upper and Lower Egypt and 24 etched or aquatint plates by J. Powell, all folding or double-page, bound on stubs. (Text leaves uniformly browned, 1 folding plate split at fold.) Contemporary green calf, gilt bordered, gilt-panelled spines, red calf labels (corners rubbed.) Provenance : Sir Joseph Radcliffe (armorial bookplate) -- Harry Blackmer (book label). FIRST EDITION. THE BLACKMER COPY OF HAMILTON ' S MOST IMPORTANT WORK . All published of Hamilton’s survey of Upper Egypt with his observations of the country and antiquities.
