'Artist Adventurers in Eighteenth Century India: Thomas and William Daniell', Spink & Son, London, November 1974, no.54 The present study of the Palace of Rohtas Garh is a field drawing executed on the spot while in India, later worked up on a separate sheet likely based on the present work, which was recently sold at Sotheby's, London (see: In An Indian Garden: The Carlton Rochell Collection of Company School Paintings, 27th October 2021, lot 23, which sold for £302,400 incl. premium). Condition Report: Four attached to the mount around the edges, three sheets laid down. All with signs of foxing and discolourations, one sheet with significant foxing all over. The second largest with a folding mark across the width of the sheet through the elephants. The largest sheet with a visible vertical fold down the middle.
