WILKES, John (1727-1797). Autograph letter signed to a Mr. O'Byrne, Prince's Court, 25 July n.y. , advising his correspondent on the admission of children to Christ's Hospital, and relating the suicide of his best tenant in Cambridgeshire who died in debt, and, in a postscript, asking permission to borrow a set of Voltaire, one page, 4to , integral blank; and a scribal letter 'To the Gentlemen, Clergy & Freeholders of the County of Middlesex', King's Bench Prison, 17 December 1768 , taking responsibility for his actions and justifying his letter to the Secretary of State, 3 pages, 4to , (splits repaired). -- DAY, Thomas (1748-1789). Autograph letter signed to his publisher Stockdale, Anringsby, 16 August 1789 , acknowledging a conciliatory letter over an misunderstanding, and asking the favour of taking delivery of a mare being sent from Scotland, and in a postscript requesting replacements for two imperfect books, 2¼ pages, 4to ; with a manuscript in a later hand objecting to the publication of Day's work in an one-volume edition entitled Sandford & Merton for the use of Schools , Piccadilly, 23 February 1801. -- LOFFT, Capell (1751-1824). Autograph letter signed to Thomas Hill Frocton, 16 November 1806 , expressing pleasure that his sonnet on the death of Fox was printed in the Monthly Mirror , and recounting at length his quarrel with Richard Bloomfield and asking Hall for his advise, and commenting on the election of Sheridan, 4 pages including address panel, 4to (seal tear repaired with slight loss). -- WILBERFORCE, William (1759-1833). Autograph letter initialled to 'My dear Mar . . ', Kens[ington]n Gore, 29 May 1817 , warmly replying to a letter received, advising on finding a suitable clergyman on the East Coast, recommending some religious works to read, and mentioning mutual friends, 4 pages, 8vo ; and a letter signed from Arthur Young, Bradfield, 1 November 1811, 3 pages, 4to .
