Half title, editorial note by Robert Ross (occasional light mainly marginal spotting). Original green cloth, upper cover lettered in blind, spine lettered and ruled in gilt. Interleaved throughout the book on coloured silk ribbons are 30 ORIGINAL PEN AND INK WASH ILLUSTRATIONS which bear a sometimes striking resemblance to the work of Osbert Lancaster (1908-86). None, however, are signed, with the exception of one which bears the signature of Wilde's fictional artist "B. Hallward". By turns witty, exuberant and macabre, the illustrations exhibit a caricatural genius superbly adapted to Wilde's depiction of a corrupt fin de siècle world.
