WHITMAN, Walt. Leaves of Grass . Camden, 1876. 8 o. 1 page advertisement at end. Two engraved portraits of Whitman. (Some slight soiling.) Original cream half calf, brown morocco lettering piece, marbled boards, pale yellow glazed endpapers (rebacked with original spine laid down, extremities rubbed). Fifth edition, third printing, second (American) issue, with integral title-page SIGNED BY WHITMAN. PRESENTATION COPY, ADDITIONALLY INSCRIBED BY WHITMAN on the front free endpaper: "A Cordery from the author." In this edition, of which Whitman had 600 copies printed, the incalcated material of the previous Author's Edition of 1876 (see lot ???) is now integrated into the printed text.
