[circa 1872]. 188 x 110 mm. (7 3/8 x 4 5/16 in.) including mount. A well-known portrait of Whitman, in a white Stetson hat with one arm resting on a table, boldly signed and inscribed on the lower portion of the image:"Walt Whitman born May 31 1819." Imprint on mount reads: "Photo'd from life, Sepr., [18]72..."
