Leaves of Grass is one of 600 copies, and is signed on the title page by Whitman. Two Rivulets bears the ALBUMEN PHOTOGRAPH PORTRAIT FRONTISPIECE, SIGNED BY WHITMAN and dated 1881 and is also a PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed by Whitman on the front free endpaper: "Mrs D C Peck / from the author." Additional neat gift inscription below this dated 1881. Laid in is an Autograph Letter Signed, 1 1/4 pp recto and verso, 12mo, Camden, December 10, 1881 with original autograph transmittal envelope addressed to Mrs Peck of Bridgeport, Connecticut, reading in full: "Dear Madam, In accordance with your request I send by express the two Vols. Centennial edition Leaves of Grass- (same address as this card)- the little pieces 'pasted in' alluded to by Stedman are all here (afterwards put in type in the plates). Instead of paying the express please remit to me here by p.o. order / Walt Whitman / (over) / Upon second thoughts I send by mail, as I find they go safe & as cheap."
